Candy Ward is a ceramic artist and maker from London, currently based in her SE1 studio, where she designs and makes her playful homeware pieces.

These functional sculptures are focused on celebrating soft bodies. These is a deeply personal theme, exploring the makers own relationship with her eating disorder and body dysmorphia through the use of clay and sculpture.

Candy learnt her ceramic skills and knowledge during her BA in Ceramic Design at Central Saint Martins. The ability to look beyond the artwork, to the deeper meaning behind it, grew from studying an MA in Art Psychotherapy at Goldsmiths UOL.

"My hope is that people can see themselves in my work. I would love someone to look at my work and think 'that looks like my body', encouraging them to see the value and beauty in themselves. Perhaps it's the first time they have seen their body represented in art. I think that can be very powerful."
